The authentic Russian dish doesn’t take mushrooms, and the sauce doesn’t have ketchup. Here we are asking permission to change a little bit with all respect to Russian friends.
I grew up loving this dish and having it with white rice and shoestring fries , if you want to try it you are not going to regret at all.
Ingredients:
- 300g (0,600 lb) beef, thinly sliced into strips (top sirloin steak or other meat good for frying)
- ½ cup mushrooms
- ½ onion diced
- 1 garlic clove diced
- 1 tbsp – Soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tbsp Ketchup
- 1tbsp Mustard
- 1 cup Whipping cream
- ¼ tsp dill
- ½ cup parsley
- ½ tsp Salt
- ¼ tsp Pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter
Procedure:
- season the meat with ¼ tsp salt and ¼ pepper
- heat a large skillet over high heat , add olive oil and fry the beef until brown, and reserve (it’s quick to keep it juicy)
- do the same with the mushrooms, add salt, fry and reserve
- in the same pan, now over medium heat , add butter, onion and garlic and fry
- bring the meat and mushrooms back to the pan
- add the whipping cream and cook for 3 min
- add Soy sauce or Worcestershire / add Ketchup / add Mustard
- add salt and pepper
- let it cook for 6 min
- add dill and parsley cook for more 3 min or until the sauce thicken, try the salt, add more if you feel like
